After more than 12 hours of traveling by bus, plane and coach, the students and teachers oficially reached the destination in Lanciano, Italy.
The goal for the meeting in Lanciano is: to implement the Erasmus + project entitled Na (e) tGEO - Complex Skill Development Using Experience Based Approaches under action KA2 - Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices / KA229- School Partnership Exchanges.
This part of the project shall be devoted to activities related to "geocaching" with the participation of partner schools from Italy, Portugal and Hungary. To sum up: five days of integration, exchange of experience and sharing of knowledge, plus exceptional Italian customs and traditions.
Day 1
The first day of the Erasmus+ Na(e)tGEO project as part of the KA2 action was a great success. Our Italian partners have planned this day in San Vito, a picturesque town on the Adriatic coast. On the "Costa dei trabocchi" trail, there was time to explore, discover the history of the place, taste regional meals and rest on the beach in the soft shade of palm trees;). There was also a time to prepare for the geocaching game, as the walking paths major points were described with QR codes, which revealed more secrets and interesting historic facts.
Day 2
On the second day, the group visited the renovated IC Don Milani school building in Lanciano. There was time for integration, sports and short talks for breaking down language barriers. After lunch - another part of the program – sightseeing in the ancient town of Lanciano. The students could get acquainted with old cathedral which was built on a Roman bridge, the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle and the tower of San Giovanni.
Day 3
This is another day filled with fun, competitions and international team games.
Students took part in "mini volleyball-dodgeball" competition, the mixed Polish, Portuguese and Hungarian team took first place - thus winning the whole event against Italian teams - and it was not easy. After lunch, the students participated in Fossacesia Abbey tour which is a former Benedictine monastery founded in the 6th century on the site of the ancient temple of Venus. The secret mission of spying on ancient Romans was completed in the beautiful scenery of the shore and the mountains.
Day 4
Students played the final geocaching game prepared by Italian partners, using the "Geocaching" method. Questions and quizzes were about biodiversity in the school area. Students could use smartphones and tablets to work with PlantNet app, follow the map and find the solutions to the task hidden in the area. In the afternoon, there was a time to pay a visit at a local town hall and talk about current affairs of the city.
Day 5
Italian part of the project Na (e) tGEO under Erasmus + "Short-term exchanges of student groups" - C2 activity - KA2 Action - Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices / KA229- School Partnerships came to an end. After the ceremonial handing over of the certificates and completing the formalities, students set off towards Rome.
In the Eternal City, they saw the Colosseum, the DiTrevi Fountain, crossed the border of Italy with the Vatican on foot, visited St. Peter basilica and the tomb of St. John Paul II, and finally climbed the Spanish Steps and ate pizza somewhere in town.
